The Mom I've Become

When Karis was a baby and she would pee in the tub I used to empty it out and refill it to finish her bath. Yesterday not only did Jedidiah pee in the tub and I did NOT empty it out, he peed on his brother (nice aim these boys have) and I just splashed some pee-pee tub water on him and declared him clean.

Soak it up

This spoke to my soul today.

I like...

I must be on a quote thing this week. In celebration of Valentine's Day Karis made Jotham a card. She was quite excited to give to him and wanted to read it to him. Their conversation went something like this:

Karis: Jotham, I made you you a card, do you want me to read it to you?
Jotham: Um, sure (not really paying attention her).
Karis: It says, Jotham and then you open it and there is an arrow here which means you should pay attention (Jotham looks up slightly) and then then it says, "I like you."
Jotham: I like sharks.

At this I started laughing and Karis found humor in it as well.

Karis is also quite taken these past few months with trying to understand who her husband will be. It causes quite a good deal of concern. How will I know who I am going to marry? What if he doesn't believe in Jesus? What if I don't meet him? On and on it goes. Yesterday she had the following conversation with Erik.

Karis: "Daddy, maybe my husband and I will live in the Antarctic where there are double digits." This means a lot of snow.

Erik: I'm not sure you'll marry someone from Antarctic.

Karis: But Daddy, when you were little you lived with your Mommy and Mommy lived with her Mommy and now you both live here.

Basically, she was trying to explain to Erik that you might grow up and meet someone from far away and marry them and live somewhere else. She brought this out more in a later conversation with me when she thought she might live in Hawaii with her husband. My highlight of that conversation was.

Karis: What if my husband wants us stay and live where we go on our honey trip?

Personally I think "honey trip" is a better name and I'll probably call it that from now on.

Karis said...

So my girlie is very dramatic, especially when she gets slightly injured (Erik would say she gets this from me). I am not exactly Miss. Compassion so I think she turns on the tears to try to get a response from me, which sadly doesn't work in her favor as I usually get less compassionate. But enough about me and my sin and onto her very humorous remark today...

I was feeding Jedi and the others were upstairs playing in their rooms, I hear the crying getting louder as it is coming towards me. I put on my best compassionate heart and asked her why she was crying. She showed me her thumb, which was actually bleeding slightly (giving me a bit more compassion). I asked her how it happened and she told me. She calmed down and I asked her to go get a band-aid and I'd put it on for her. When she came back with the band-aid she said, "Mommy, I think this hurts worser than when you have a baby." I laughed and said I don't think so, but she is still convinced. So I told her I'd write down that she thinks a little boo-boo on her thumb hurts more than having a baby and one day when she has a baby she can let me know.

Daze of Grace

One of my favorite blogs had an excellent post today.

Great News

We had great news from Erik's doctor yesterday. The most recent CAT Scan was significantly better. Basically the "mass" is gone and all that is left is scar tissue. The scar tissue may or may not clear up but shouldn't cause any problems either way. So it seems it was just a really nasty lung abscess. We are so grateful for your prayers over the past few months and ultimately grateful for our God for healing Erik.
