Another one

Okay so this is turning into the Jotham blog... sorry about that (not to you my readers but perhaps if my other kids ever read this).

Tonight at dinner, Jotham was sitting (not eating) looking at Cia & Karis. The following conversation took place.

Erik: Jotham what are doing?
Jotham: I'm looking at Cia & Karis.
Erik: Why?
Jotham: I'm trying to decide who is more beautiful.
Erik: They are both beautiful...eat your dinner.
Jotham: (Looking at Karis) I wish I had a woman like Karis.

I just about died laughing, where on earth did he get that phrase???

The conversation went on:

Jotham: Karis' hair is longer than Cia's.
Erik: You like Karis' hair.
Jotham: Yeah, like when she has braids.

Later after Karis asked Erik what he would think if she is cut off all her hair Jotham said, "Even if you had no hair, I would still love you."

Too cute.

Aspirations

Some children want to be doctors, some want to be firemen, some mommies or nurses. I am sure these things reveal things about their personalities. It makes me wonder what Jotham is going to become when he says:

"I like those bottle caps, they are so shiny! Maybe someday I could get a job collecting them."

What do you think, homeless man or recycling collection man?
And yes he does already collect them.

Dreams

I know I probably post more stories about Jotham than any of the other kids but the way his mind thinks cracks me up the most.

The other night Erik went into his room to "peak on him" after he had fallen asleep. He sat upright in bed and said, "Jedi, Jedi, be careful, don't fall down the stairs."

In the morning I had the following conversation with him.

Me: Were you dreaming about Jedi last night?

Jotham: Yeah

Me: You know you were talking in your sleep.

Jotham: Yeah

Me: What were dreaming?

Jotham: Well, you know.

I think the boy really thinks I know what happens in his dreams.

1

On January 6th, Jedidiah turned 1 year old. It amazing to me that one year has already passed since he was born. He has been by far our easiest child. He is sweet and affectionate, he sleeps great and though his eating has been an issue he seems to be improving. I love how his eyes light up with joy and pleasure when someone gets down on a ground to play with him. I love how he loves playing with his siblings and tolerates their roughness very well. I truly can't imagine how our life would be without him.

On another note I think this year having Jedidiah has given me a new perspective on mothering. I used to see older people out and they would say to me, "Enjoy them, it goes by quick." In my haste, I would usually move quickly from their comment to the next thing I had to do. In God's kindness and grace I can say that right now I enjoy my children more than anything else. There are, of course, daily challenges but even admits all the work that needs to get done I am in a season of really loving them for who they are and not for what I hope they become. If I could I would keep them all exactly the way they are right now, 6 and learning to read, 4 and wanting to be brave, 3 and love everything about life, 1 and totally dependent for everything. I am sure there are days when it wouldn't be true but for the most part if someone were to say to me, "Enjoy them, it goes by quick." I can say, "I am and yes it does."

Checkup Day

This past Monday we took Karis, Mercia, & Jedidiah in for their various well visits. I'm posting the stats here because I'm sure to forget them.

Karis- 6 Year Well Visit
Weight- 42 lbs 25%
Height- 451/4 inches 50%

Mercia- 3 Year Well Visit
Weight- 33 lbs 75%
Height- 38 inches 75%

Jedidiah- 1 Year Well Visit
Weight- 21 lbs 25%
Height- 30 inches 50%

So far it seems Mercia is the only one in the family breaking out of the 25/50% trend.

Prayer

Jotham's prayer this morning:

Dear Jesus, Satan is prowling around like a lion seeking something to devour. Please don't let me obey him or Pharaoh or anyone else, only you. Amen.

I'm praying to not obey Pharoah either, how about you?
