What I Would Do

Several months ago my husband wrote me a wonderful poem called, What I Would Do. In it he spoke of all the things he would do to be with me. It included things like live in the hottest climate, fold laundry, eat brussel sprouts. A list of things I know he really dislikes. It is really my favorite poem. I have it taped up next to my desk and I read it almost every day and each time I am grateful for the wonderful gift God has given me in my husband. Now, just so you know, I am (1) not creative (2) not inspired (3) not poetic (4) very much in love and attempting to communicate to my hubby afresh how much he means to me.

What I Would Do...

I would play out in the snow
I would would watch an ESPN show

I would eat pepporoni, onions, and mushrooms
I would go months without a vacuum

I would learn to play RISK and love it
Without complaining I would gladly submit

I would travel across the ocean
I would let my skin dry out without lotion

I would never take another shower
I would live in a house without power

I would drive our kids in a tiny car
I would even learn to play guitar

I would never go to another beach
I would never give another speech

I would cross the dessert sand
so that you could be my husband

What I would do... to be with you.

I love you sweet Erik. Thanks for asking me to be your wife.

The Lord is Our Righteousness

Our church has been going through the book of Jeremiah and our pastor has encouraged us to read and study the book as we do. Today I was reading in Jeremiah 23:5-6 and was freshly reminded of God's wonderful plan of salvation.

"Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: 'The Lord is our righteousness.'"

These words written 1000 years before Christ was born testify to me again of God's mercy and grace and remind me that righteousness is mine only in Christ because of his death and resurrection. I cannot earn salvation. It is freely given to me through Christ. How Great He is!
