Grace

Recent thought on parenting.

Grace is always amazing, if I am parenting in a way that makes it anything less than amazing then I am likely parenting by the law and not trusting God for the work that He alone can do in my children.

Favorite Verses on this:
Philippians 3:8b- 9
"in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—"

Homeschooling

Love this lady, Elizabeth Foss, and thought this post was great. My favorite quote:

"Only one woman in the history of mankind has raised a perfect child and she would be the first to assure you that it was all by the grace of God."

May you experience the grace, mercy and freedom that only Christ can bring in your mothering today.

Parenting

Just in case you haven't read it, this is an excellent post by Nancy Wilson. And this book
by her daugher is also excellent.

Lullaby

Came across this great quote:

"The lullaby is the spell whereby the mother attempts to transform herself back from an ogre to a saint." - James Fenton

How true it is that singing to our children sooths us just as much, umm, maybe more than it even soothes them. I have sometimes referred to myself as a schizophrenic mother, one minute angry and quite literally the next amazed at how much I love the child I was so angry at one minute prior. God is good to sustain in the moments of anger and amazing to give us moments of love.
